Ling Hang Zhe / Navigator

In September 2006, Goodyear blimp made its first voyage to China. Before our visit, a webpage was designed on sina.com, the most influential portal in China, including history and images of the blimp in the U.S. Netizens were invited to name the first blimp to come to China. The image of the 'blue fairy' drew huge attention from the netizens. One of them, a student from Shanghai even mailed Goodyear a blimp model he designed himself to show his affection and imagination of the Goodyear blimp.

Hundreds of entries were submitted, and a final decision was made on the Chinese name of the blimp. In December, media nationwide were invited to Zhongshan in Guangdong province when the blimp's Chinese name was unveiled to be "Ling Hang Zhe (or translated to be the Navigator)", and witnessed the sensational take-off moment of the blimp.
