Construction personnel work on connecting the composite cross sections of the GOODYEAR NT. The GOODYEAR NT frame sits inside Goodyear's hangar at Wingfoot Lake in Suffield, Ohio. GOODYEAR NT envelope material arrives at Wingfoot Lake in rolls. The envelope is made of Polyester with a DuPont™ Tedlar® film on the outside and a polyurethane coat on the inside. Tedlar is a polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) film which protects surfaces from harsh weather, UV rays, chemical and solvents. Envelope installation on the GOODYEAR NT. Work on the frame sometimes requires working in high places. Workers prepare the top of the frame for envelope attachment. Construction workers step inside the GOODYEAR NT structure to assure a proper fitting during envelope installation. Work is done on the aft end of the GOODYEAR NT structure making it ready for installation of the aft engine. It is the aft engine which gives the GOODYEAR NT much of its precise maneuverability. Once completed, the GOODYEAR NT will have three vectored engines, one on the tail and one on each side of the frame mid way up well above the car to reduce noise in the cabin. The GOODYEAR NT envelope installation is completed and air inflated. During air inflation the construction crew works inside the structure attaching cables and installing the Goodyear NT internal parts.
